Energy Creates is a participatory contest. To be eligible, complete all four steps in order. Most students finish steps 1–3 in under an hour. Step 4 is the creative part: take as long as you need.

Free signup at energycreates.com. Open to students aged 15 to 25, in Canada and internationally. Minors need parent or guardian consent.
Watch the documentary
Stream this year’s film inside your account. It is the core source material for the quiz and the contest theme: the Canadian energy sector.
Pass the quiz
A short quiz based on the documentary. Score 70% or higher to unlock the submission form. Use the study guide if you want a refresher.
Submit your work
Make something original that reflects on the Canadian energy sector. Film, painting, music, dance, writing, design, anything. Upload it through the portal before the deadline.
Bring your medium.
Any original artistic work on the Canadian energy sector. Pick the format that says what you want to say. One submission per person.
- Short film · 10 minutes or less, .mp4
- Painting, photograph, design, or sculpture · .jpg
- Dance performance · 10 minutes or less, .mp4
- Musical performance · 10 minutes or less, .mp3 or .mp4
- Short story, essay, or other writing · 5,000 words or less
- Unconventional: fashion, dance, comics, or installations.
Who can enter.
- Open to students in Canada and internationally.
- Aged 15 to 25 at the time of entry.
- Enrolled in, or planning to enrol in, an accredited post-secondary program by September 30, 2028.
- Minors must have parent or guardian consent.
- Energy Creates Inc. staff, jury members, and their immediate families are not eligible.

Don’t miss the cutoff.
Submission window for the current cycle: opens at launch, closes on the official deadline posted on energycreates.com. Submissions after the cutoff are not accepted. All submissions are final.
Submit anonymously: your name should not appear in the work itself. Files must be legible, in the format listed above. Handwritten, faxed, or emailed submissions are not accepted.
A full tuition scholarship valued at up to $100,000.
Five full tuition scholarships valued at up to $100,000 each are awarded every year. Each winner receives an amount equal to their tuition and mandatory fees at an accredited post-secondary program, up to a cumulative maximum of $100,000 CAD. The scholarship is applicable at any accredited institution in the world; field of study does not affect eligibility.
